Program Overview

Quality of Life Yoga for Lipedema: Citizen Science is a 7-week, structured mind–body program for individuals living with lipedema, lymphedema, or both. The program explores how gentle chair yoga, breathing practices, and guided meditation may support quality of life.

Participants take part in a supportive yoga experience while contributing to shared learning through simple self-report surveys focused on physical, mental, and emotional well-being.


Who Can Participate

Eligibility

  • Age 18 or older

  • Diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of lipedema

  • Willing to sign consent and complete surveys

  • Agree not to change current self-care, treatment, or diet during the 6-week guided portion of the program

Not Eligible If You Have

  • Vertigo

  • Certain heart conditions that may cause dizziness or fainting


Program Commitment

Total Length: 7 weeks
Dates: January 19 – March 7, 2026

Includes an orientation, a 6-week guided program, and an exit meeting.


Program Format

Live Sessions (Twice Weekly)

  • Chair Yoga, Breathing Practice, Guided Meditation (60 min)

  •  Weekly Support Chat (60 min)

Recorded Session (Weekly)

  • Breathing meditation (10–15 min)

Orientation & Exit Meetings

  • Review expectations and forms

  • Ask questions and share reflections

Participants complete brief self-report surveys:

Cindy Beers, MS, E-RYT 500

Yoga Instructor

Cindy is a mission-minded woman with a successful yoga career that creates a place for people of all ages and body types.

Cindy spent 18 years in the US Armed Forces and is a skilled spokesperson, corporate liaison, and mediator with extensive experience working on hundreds of private and public sector contracts and is adept at taking projects from concept to completion.

Cindy is a member of Yoga Alliance (E-RYT500), ADAA (Anxiety, Depression Association of America) and NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness). Her university degrees include a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Professional Communications and a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Philosophy from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA.

She has published three books, “Mindful Yoga for Teen Anxiety,” “Mindful Yoga for Adult Anxiety,” and “Yoga for Mental Health.” She is currently working on her fourth book, “Yoga for Lipedema and/or Lymphedema.”

Cindy has Stage 2 Lipedema. She is a volunteer with Lipedema Simplified along with volunteering within her community.

Leslyn Keith, OTD, CLT

Lymphatic Specialist, Author & Researcher

Dr. Leslyn Keith is a distinguished figure in lymphatic health, serving as a consultant for Lipedema Simplified. Based in California, USA, she is also an instructor in lymphedema therapy for Klose Training and Consulting, and operates a private practice specializing in lymphedema/lipedema therapy.

With a doctorate in Occupational Therapy and over two decades of experience, Leslyn is a respected researcher, particularly focusing on lifestyle interventions such as ketogenic diets for individuals with lymphedema, lipedema, and/or obesity. Her dedication to advancing treatment approaches and improving patient outcomes underscores her commitment to the field.

Siobhan Huggins

Siobhan Huggins

Research Specialist, Lipedema Simplified

Siobhan is a passionate researcher and metabolic health advocate, specializing in cholesterol, inflammation, and lipedema. As a Research Specialist at Lipedema Simplified, she’s dedicated to raising awareness about underrecognized conditions.

Her journey began in 2016 with a ketogenic diet that helped her reverse abdominal obesity and resolve chronic symptoms, igniting a deep curiosity about how nutrition impacts disease.

After being diagnosed with lipedema in 2021, she shifted her focus to this misunderstood condition and quickly became a respected voice in the community. Siobhan speaks at conferences and explores how keto and low-carb strategies may offer real hope.

She also co-founded Own Your Labs, a platform empowering people to track and explore their own health data.

With both personal experience and scientific insight, Siobhan brings a compassionate, evidence-based perspective to this important conversation.
