NOTE: There is NUDITY shown in the film and discussions about oppression, Apartheid, and race.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 12:00 - 3:00 pm Eastern time

Why This Gathering Matters

For many people navigating complex health journeys, one of the greatest challenges is being heard — by providers, by systems, and sometimes even by ourselves.

Scientific research and medical expertise provide essential knowledge. At the same time, personal experience and patient stories offer important insight into what it truly means to live in our bodies every day.

This experience offers an opportunity to:

✓ Reflect on the evolving conversation around lymphatic health and advocacy

✓ Explore themes of body awareness, persistence, and patient voice through film

✓ Deepen your connection to your own lived experience and inner awareness

✓ Connect with others who value learning, empathy, and community support

"My goodness I am so glad I found this website! I have been a CLT since 2005 and have yet to find any actual appropriate education to address lipedema - I am hoping for further education opportunities!"

~Danielle R.

"New to your community and have already learned so much!"

~Sue N.

"Through you and all the others I have met along the way, I am in a much better place. I am grateful for all of you and will continue to follow you as much as I can."

~Melody K.

"Thanks, Leslyn! I feel sure that your hard work along with Catherine and other experts will make a huge difference for the women to follow us with this disease!"

~Diane S.

About Jodie’s Body

Based on the highly acclaimed Off-Broadway play, Jodie’s Body is a powerful one-woman film that explores body image, perception, the stories society tells about women’s bodies, and about race. Set in a life-drawing studio, the film follows Jodie, an artist’s model who reflects on her life with humor, honesty, and insight as she challenges assumptions about body size, beauty, and worth.

Through her reflections, Jodie invites viewers to reconsider how bodies are seen, judged, and interpreted, revealing how cultural expectations, bias, and personal history shape the way we understand ourselves and others. Her story moves beyond appearance to explore deeper themes of identity, dignity, and the courage to see bodies, including our own, with greater compassion and truth.

The film stars author Aviva Jane Carlin, directed by Coleman Clark, and produced independently by William Repicci. It was created in association with the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN) as part of a broader effort to elevate meaningful patient and body-centered storytelling and discussion.

Please note that the film contains mature themes and brief artistic nudity presented within the context of a life-drawing class and the film’s exploration of body image and self-perception.

Following the screening, we will open space for community reflection and conversation about the themes raised in the film.
